A Seychelles honeymoon is at its best when you pair a pool villa with a handful of shared experiences: a picnic on an empty beach, an evening under sail, the palm forest of the Vallée de Mai as the gates open and a long spa afternoon. For most couples I’d plan nine or ten nights in two places, a resort on Mahé or Praslin plus either a second main island or a private island, and travel in April, May, October or November, when the sea is calmest for boat days.

This guide is about romance on the ground: which moments to book, which resorts do them well and how to stop a honeymoon turning into a sightseeing tour. If you’re still choosing between oceans, my Maldives vs Seychelles honeymoon comparison covers that decision, and the Seychelles cost guide has the full budget breakdown.

Quick answer: how to plan it

  • Length: nine or ten nights in two bases; eight is the minimum if one base is a private island.
  • Months: April, May, October and November for calm water; June to September for drier, breezier days.
  • Room: a villa with its own plunge pool. In Seychelles it is the standard at the romantic end, not an extravagance.
  • Book ahead: one private boat day, one special dinner and a couples’ spa slot. Leave everything else open.

The romantic experiences worth planning around

A private beach picnic

The classic version is a chartered boat from Praslin or La Digue to one of the small granite islands nearby, such as Coco Island or the Sisters, with snorkelling off the boulders and a picnic laid out on the sand. Resorts on private islands make it simpler: North Island will reserve its Honeymoon Beach for just the two of you, and on Desroches the beaches are long enough that the resort can drop you at one with a cool box and collect you hours later. Book the boat version for a calm-sea month, because exposed landings are the first thing cancelled when the trades blow.

Enjoy a laid-back island picnic on La Digue, with local Creole flavours and the Seychelles’ pristine beaches as your backdrop.

Sunset sailing

Catamaran and yacht charters run from Praslin and from Eden Island on Mahé, and a two- or three-hour sunset sail is easy to arrange through your hotel. West-facing coasts get the sun dropping into the sea, which is why the south-west of Mahé and the north-west of Praslin are the places to watch it. If you’d like more than an evening, a skippered overnight charter around Praslin, La Digue and Curieuse turns the islands into your own itinerary, with dinner on deck at anchor.

The Vallée de Mai at opening time

The UNESCO-listed forest doesn’t open at dawn, but its first hour, from about 8.30am, comes close: cool air, filtered light through the coco de mer fronds and very few other visitors. Entry has been SCR 450 a person, a little less online. Walk the longer loop together, listen for the black parrot, then go on to Anse Lazio for a swim and a late lunch. It is one of the few honeymoon days in Seychelles that costs almost nothing beyond the ticket.

A spa afternoon

Seychelles spas tend to be built into the landscape: open pavilions on a hillside, treatment rooms among granite boulders, a bath with a sea view. A couples’ ritual on a rainy afternoon is one of the best uses of a showery December or January day. Raffles on Praslin has the largest spa of the resorts here, Six Senses Zil Pasyon places its treatment rooms among Félicité’s rocks, and Four Seasons on Mahé sits its spa high on the hill above the bay.

Four Seasons Resort Seychelles overlooking Petite Anse on Mahé
Petite Anse faces west, so the bay below Four Seasons is one of the easiest places on Mahé to end the day watching the sun go down.

Honeymoon perks: what to expect and how to claim them

Most luxury resorts in Seychelles offer something to honeymooners, but the benefits are modest and conditional. Four Seasons Resort Seychelles has offered Champagne and a honeymoon cake on arrival, an in-villa bath ritual and a private couples’ meditation. Raffles has listed a honeymoon turndown, a bottle of Champagne and a 60-minute spa treatment each. Four Seasons also runs a combined stay with its Desroches resort that has included a free night, which suits a two-base honeymoon.

  • Proof: expect to show a marriage certificate, usually dated within the last six to twelve months, at booking or on arrival.
  • Minimum stay: many benefits apply only from three or four nights.
  • Rate type: some perks are tied to a specific honeymoon package, so compare it with the best flexible rate before choosing.
  • Upgrades: never guaranteed. Mention the honeymoon when you book and again a week before arrival.

The best months for a Seychelles honeymoon

MonthsWhat it means for a honeymoonMy view
April–MayLight winds, calm sea, very warm days; good for picnics by boat and snorkellingThe best overall
June–SeptemberDrier and cooler, but the south-east trades make boat days choppierGood for exploring, choose a sheltered beach
October–NovemberWinds drop again, the water clears; showers increase in NovemberExcellent, especially October
December–MarchHot, humid, with heavy but short showers; Christmas and New Year are the most expensive weeksFine for a villa-and-spa honeymoon

The best time to visit Seychelles guide goes through the year month by month, including seaweed and sea conditions on specific beaches.

Balancing resort time with exploring

The common mistake is planning the honeymoon like a first trip anywhere else, with a booked excursion every day. Seychelles rewards a slower ratio. My rule is one outing for every two days at the resort: the Vallée de Mai on one day, then a day of pool, lunch and spa; a boat picnic, then another lazy day. On Mahé, hire a car for one day for the south-coast beaches and a Creole lunch, and leave the rest to the villa.

Put the more active base first and the secluded one last. That way the wedding fatigue and the long-haul flight are behind you before the exploring starts, and the trip ends with three or four nights of doing nothing at all. If you’d like to see all three main islands, the Seychelles island-hopping itinerary sets out the route, ferries and luggage tips day by day.

The best Seychelles honeymoon resorts

All eight resorts below have private-pool villas or rooms suited to couples. They are grouped by island, from easy Mahé arrivals to private islands that need a flight or a boat.

Four Seasons Resort Seychelles: best for a first honeymoon in Seychelles

Four Seasons is the easiest romantic base to recommend because it combines a swimmable bay with the privacy of a villa in the trees. Villas sit on a steep hillside above Petite Anse with plunge pools and outdoor showers; the higher Serenity and hilltop categories have the widest views, the lower ones are closer to the sand. The honeymoon package adds an in-villa bath and a couples’ meditation, and sunset at Petite Anse is a nightly event. The resort is only a road transfer from the airport, which matters on day one of a honeymoon.

  • Best for: couples on a first trip who want beach, villa and sunsets in one place.
  • Transfer: around 30–40 minutes by road from Mahé airport.
  • Rates: garden-view villas run from about US$1,750 (May to September) to US$2,200 (November to April) a night with breakfast; service and taxes are added.
  • Don’t miss: a couples’ treatment in the hilltop spa, timed for late afternoon.

The higher villas at Four Seasons trade a longer buggy ride for more privacy and a wider view of the bay.

Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas: best for staying in your villa

Maia has only 30 thatched villas spread across a forested estate above Anse Louis, and each comes with a Villa Host who handles everything from breakfast to restaurant bookings. That makes it the choice for couples who want the honeymoon to happen mostly inside the villa. Dining by Design lets you choose where dinner is served, whether on the beach by candlelight, in your garden or on a rock above the sea. Anse Louis faces west, so sunsets come with the setting.

  • Best for: privacy, personal service and private dining.
  • Transfer: around 35–60 minutes by road from the airport, depending on traffic.
  • Rates: about US$1,900 a night for a pool villa with breakfast in the quieter months, closer to US$2,150 from November to April, plus VAT and levy.
  • Don’t miss: a Dining by Design dinner on the beach on your first night.

Good to know: the beach-side villas make the sea a short walk away; the hilltop ones have bigger views but rely on buggies.

Mango House Seychelles: best for food-loving couples

Mango House is a 41-room hotel in Hilton’s LXR collection on a small bay in south Mahé, and it feels more like a stylish house party than a resort. Every room faces the sea, and the restaurants run from Italian to Japanese and Creole, which suits couples who like to choose somewhere different each night. The Ocean Houses with a plunge pool are the honeymoon pick. It costs well under half of the big villa resorts nearby, which leaves room in the budget for a private boat day.

  • Best for: design, dinners and a smaller hotel atmosphere.
  • Transfer: around 35 minutes by road from the airport.
  • Rates: rooms with breakfast start near US$550 a night plus VAT; peak dates vary a lot, so check live prices.
  • Don’t miss: a paddleboard across the bay before breakfast.

Raffles Seychelles: best for a spa-centred honeymoon on Praslin

Raffles has around 86 villas on a slope above Anse Takamaka, each with a plunge pool, a four-poster bed and a bath facing the view, plus butler service. The spa is the romance here: 13 treatment pavilions in tropical greenery and couples’ rituals that end with a rose-petal bath. Its honeymoon benefits, a turndown, Champagne and a 60-minute treatment each, are among the more generous on the islands. The resort looks across to Curieuse, so a tortoise-and-snorkel boat day is easy to add.

  • Best for: couples who want a pool villa, a big spa and Praslin’s beaches.
  • Transfer: 15-minute flight to Praslin, then about 20 minutes by road; or the Cat Cocos ferry.
  • Rates: hillside pool villas with breakfast start at roughly US$850 a night plus VAT, though busier months can cost much more, so check live prices.
  • Don’t miss: the Couple’s Dream ritual on your last afternoon.

Good to know: bring a copy of your marriage certificate; Raffles has asked for it both at booking and on arrival.

Six Senses Zil Pasyon: best for a granite-island finale

Six Senses is the only resort on Félicité, a granite island east of La Digue, and its pool villas are set among boulders and forest with views across the sea. For a honeymoon it brings private-island seclusion without leaving the Inner Islands. Kayaking, snorkelling and paddleboarding are included, and Coco Island, one of the best snorkelling spots nearby, is a short paddle or boat ride away. The spa’s treatment rooms are built into the rocks, and Sunset Point is where most couples finish the day.

  • Best for: seclusion, wellness and snorkelling after a few days on Praslin or La Digue.
  • Transfer: boat from Praslin or La Digue, or around 20 minutes by helicopter from Mahé.
  • Rates: Hideaway villas with breakfast cost about US$1,050–US$1,300 a night depending on the month, before VAT and levy.
  • Don’t miss: a kayak to Coco Island on a calm morning.

North Island: best for a once-in-a-lifetime splurge

North Island has 11 villas and never more than about 22 guests, which is the whole appeal. Villas of around 450 square metres face the beach, meals are served wherever and whenever you choose, and the island’s Honeymoon Beach can be reserved for a private day. Conservation work on the island, from tortoises to nesting turtles, gives the stay a sense of purpose beyond the villa. The price, covering meals, house drinks and most activities, puts it in a different league from everything else here.

  • Best for: couples for whom privacy outweighs every other factor.
  • Transfer: short helicopter flight from Mahé, usually charged separately and priced on request, so confirm when booking.
  • Rates: a beachfront villa for two costs from roughly US$10,550 a night with meals and house drinks, before VAT; dates swing the price widely, so check live prices.
  • Don’t miss: a full day alone on Honeymoon Beach.

At North Island, meals and house drinks are part of the rate, though the helicopter from Mahé is usually extra.

Four Seasons Resort Desroches Island: best for a barefoot, active honeymoon

Desroches is a flat coral island in the Amirantes with about 14 kilometres of beach and a single resort. Every villa has a pool, bicycles are the way to get around, and there is a giant tortoise sanctuary to cycle to. The romance comes from space: you can ride to a beach and have it to yourselves, snorkel with turtles or dive the drop-off on the island’s edge. Combine it with Four Seasons on Mahé and the group’s linked offer has included a complimentary night.

  • Best for: couples who want a remote island with plenty to do.
  • Transfer: about 35–40 minutes by light aircraft from Mahé.
  • Rates: ocean-view pool villas cost about US$1,500–US$1,900 a night by season, usually half board and before VAT, with flights extra at about €633 per adult return.
  • Don’t miss: a picnic on a far beach reached by bicycle.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island: best for contemporary villas on a remote island

Platte is a tiny coral island about 135 kilometres south of Mahé, and the Waldorf Astoria is its only resort, with 50 villas that each have a pool, an outdoor shower, a terrace and a personal concierge. Six restaurants and bars mean a remote island doesn’t have to mean eating in the same place every night. The spa is large and bright, and the villas open straight onto the beach. It suits couples who want a far-flung island with a fuller resort programme.

  • Best for: modern design, variety of dining and real isolation.
  • Transfer: about 20–25 minutes by shared resort flight from Mahé, €550 per adult return.
  • Rates: garden pool villas cost about US$2,150–US$2,550 a night by season with breakfast, before VAT, and the flight is extra.
  • Don’t miss: a different restaurant each night of your stay.

Good to know: check the flight cost and baggage allowance before booking, since longer-stay offers have sometimes included the return transfer.

Three honeymoon shapes that work

  • Eight nights, one move: four nights at Four Seasons or Maia on Mahé, then four at Six Senses Zil Pasyon or Desroches.
  • Ten nights, two moves: three on Mahé, four at Raffles on Praslin with a day on La Digue, three on a private island.
  • Seven nights, no moves: a single Mahé villa resort with one boat day and one car day. Simple, and still romantic.

A seven-night luxury trip for two typically costs US$8,000–US$13,000 excluding international flights, and pool villas throughout or a private island push that much higher. For more choice of island stays, see my guide to private island resorts in Seychelles.

Prices are indicative and were last updated in October 2026. Rates change with season, exchange rates and availability, so check live prices before booking.

Practical tips before you go

Every visitor needs a Travel Authorisation, applied for on the Government of Seychelles Electronic Border System; avoid lookalike sites. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, insect repellent, a light rain jacket and sandals with grip for granite paths. Keep at least one night on Mahé before the flight home if your last base is a private island or anywhere that needs a boat, since weather can delay a transfer.

My verdict: for most couples, the best Seychelles honeymoon is a Mahé or Praslin pool villa followed by a few nights on a private island, timed for April, May or October. Book the boat picnic and the spa, and leave the rest of the days unplanned. If you’d like a longer list of hotels across the islands, see my guide to the best luxury resorts in Seychelles.
