Budget US$8,000–US$13,000 for two adults, excluding international flights, for a seven-night luxury Seychelles holiday. That covers a very good resort on Mahé and Praslin (or one of the two), breakfast daily, most other meals, ferries or a domestic flight, a hire car for a few days, a handful of excursions and the taxes and levies on your hotel bill. Upgrade to private-pool villas throughout and the same week moves towards US$14,000–US$24,000; private-island weeks tend to begin near US$25,000 and can pass US$60,000.

Prices are indicative and were last updated in October 2026. Rates change with season, exchange rates and availability, so check live prices before booking.

The figures below are for two adults sharing. Hotels and ferries in Seychelles often price in euros, local spending is in Seychelles rupees (roughly SCR 14 to the US dollar), and this guide converts everything to US dollars for easy comparison. Always compare the final checkout total, since a headline nightly rate can exclude VAT, the tourism levy, meal supplements and transfers.

Seychelles holiday costs at a glance

Travel style (two adults)7 nightsTypical hotel rateWhat it includes
Smart luxuryUS$8,000–US$13,000US$500–US$1,100 a nightFive-star resort or pool villa on Mahé and Praslin, breakfast, ferry or domestic flight, hire car, shared excursions
High-end island hoppingUS$14,000–US$24,000US$1,200–US$2,500 a nightLarger pool villas, private transfers, a private boat day, frequent fine dining and spa time
Private islandUS$25,000–US$60,000+US$1,500–US$12,000+ a nightRemote resort, air or helicopter transfer, villa, often half board or all-inclusive

The smart-luxury band is still a five-star holiday. It works because Mahé and Praslin have excellent resorts that cost far less than the private islands, and because so much of the best of Seychelles (Anse Lazio, the Vallée de Mai, a bike ride on La Digue) costs little once you are there. Travelling in the shoulder months of April–May and October–November also helps; Christmas, New Year and Easter carry the highest rates and minimum stays.

Accommodation: usually 60–70% of the budget

Your hotel is the biggest single cost. As a guide for two adults with breakfast, allow around US$500–US$1,100 a night for a junior suite or deluxe room at a polished resort on Mahé or Praslin, US$850–US$2,200 for an entry-level private-pool villa at the top resorts, and US$1,500 to well over US$10,000 on the private islands. On a typical booking page, the quoted rate for Seychelles hotels may exclude 15% VAT and the per-person tourism levy, so check the line items. Half board can add a lot: at Raffles Seychelles, for example, the half-board supplement is about US$170 per person per night, and it rises to €156 from 1 November 2026.

Taxes, levies and entry fees

VAT. Seychelles charges 15% VAT on most goods and services, including hotel stays, restaurant meals and excursions. Some resorts quote inclusive prices and others add it at checkout, and a few also add a service charge.

Tourism Environmental Sustainability Levy. Since 1 January 2026 the levy is SCR 100 per person per night at large hotels (more than 50 rooms), island resorts and yachts, and SCR 75 at medium properties with 25–50 rooms. Small properties with fewer than 25 rooms are now exempt, as are children aged 12 and under. For a couple spending seven nights at large resorts, that is SCR 1,400, or roughly US$100. The official Tourism Seychelles notice has the details; the levy is usually collected by the hotel at checkout.

Travel Authorisation. Every visitor needs a Travel Authorisation before departure, applied for on the official Seychelles Electronic Border System up to 30 days before travel. The standard fee is EUR 10 per person, which comes to around EUR 12 with processing and bank charges, and faster processing costs more. Use only the official site: copycat sites charge far higher fees for the same authorisation.

Transfers and getting around

JourneyTimeTypical cost
Mahé airport to a west or south-west coast resort (taxi or private transfer)25–45 minutesaround US$40–US$80 each way
Cat Cocos ferry, Mahé to PraslinAbout 1 hour–1 hour 15 minutesaround €54–€74 per person one way, depending on deck and date; business class costs more
Air Seychelles, Mahé to Praslin15–20 minutesaround US$70–US$120 per person one way
Inter Island Ferry, Praslin to La DigueAbout 15 minutesaround €19 per person one way
Flight, Mahé to DesrochesAbout 35–40 minutesabout €633 per adult and €541 per child return including VAT (€915 per adult over the festive season)
Helicopter to a private island15–20 minutesquoted per flight; usually extra at North Island too
Hire car on Mahé or PraslinPer dayaround €45–€60 for a small car
Bike hire on La DiguePer dayaround SCR 100–150 (US$7–US$11)

For a classic Mahé and Praslin week, allow around US$500–US$900 for all transfers for two, including return ferries or flights and road transfers at each end. Business class on Cat Cocos is a sensible upgrade from May to September, when the crossing is often rough. Air Seychelles allows 23kg of checked luggage plus 5kg of hand luggage on point-to-point domestic tickets, and if the domestic flight is on the same ticket as your long-haul flight, your international allowance applies. At Mahé airport, agree a taxi fare before you set off or pre-book a transfer.

Inter-island ferry between Mahé and Praslin in Seychelles
The ferry between Mahé and Praslin is cheaper than the domestic flight but takes about an hour.

Meals, drinks, excursions and everyday spending

Eating at the big resorts is the second-largest cost after the room. With breakfast included, allow US$200–US$350 a day for two for lunch, dinner and a few drinks at resort restaurants, and US$400–US$700 if you plan regular tasting menus, good wine or private beach dinners. Imported wine and spirits are expensive. Eating out at local Creole restaurants and beach grills on Mahé and Praslin costs much less, and a takeaway lunch box of curry, rice and grilled fish costs a fraction of a resort lunch. Half board makes most sense on a remote island with no outside restaurants.

Breakfast with tropical fruit at a Seychelles resort
Breakfast is included in most luxury rates in Seychelles; lunch, dinner and drinks are where bills grow.

For excursions over a week, US$800–US$2,500 covers most couples. Some sample costs:

  • Vallée de Mai, Praslin: around SCR 450 per person (about US$32) for entry to the coco de mer forest
  • L’Union Estate, La Digue: around SCR 150 per person, which includes access to Anse Source d’Argent
  • Shared boat day: around €60–€110 per person for Curieuse, St Pierre and Cousin trips with lunch
  • Private boat charter: from around €300 for a few hours, more for a full day with lunch

Spa treatments, diving, deep-sea fishing and helicopter sightseeing push the activity budget higher. Car hire on Mahé or Praslin for three or four days, plus fuel, usually comes to US$250–US$400.

A realistic seven-night budget for two

This example splits a week between a five-star resort on Mahé and a pool villa at Raffles on Praslin, with breakfast included. It uses rates including taxes and sits in the middle of the US$8,000–US$13,000 range.

Swap the Mahé resort for a garden room at Constance Ephelia and use the ferry in economy, and the same week comes in closer to US$10,000. Move to Four Seasons on Mahé and an ocean-view Raffles villa, and you will pass US$14,000. For ten nights, add roughly 40% to any of these figures. The Seychelles island-hopping itinerary shows how to plan the days, and the Mahé vs Praslin vs La Digue comparison is useful for working out which islands earn a place in the budget.

Estimate your Seychelles stay

Pick a resort and your dates to see the full bill: room, meals, service, taxes and the transfer, using the same researched rates as this guide.

Season

How the total is built: 15% VAT (and a service charge at some resorts), plus the Tourism Environmental Sustainability Levy of SCR 100 per person per night at large hotels and island resorts (SCR 75 at medium hotels; children aged 12 and under exempt). Rates are typical "from" prices for two adults researched in October 2026, not live quotes; children are assumed to share the villa, with meals at half the adult supplement. Always confirm the final price with the resort or booking site.

Where to stay at each budget

Rates below are typical starting prices for two adults, before taxes unless stated. Peak dates and higher villa categories can cost two or three times as much.

Constance Ephelia: best value for a full-service Mahé resort

Constance Ephelia sits on about 120 hectares at Port Launay on Mahé’s north-west tip, with two beaches facing the marine national park. Most rooms are junior suites, with senior suites and family, beach and hillside villas above them. Five restaurants and bars, several pools, a kids’ club, tennis, a zipline and a large spa mean you rarely need to leave, which helps keep taxi and dining costs predictable. Non-motorised water sports are included; diving, the zipline and some excursions cost extra.

  • Best for: families and couples who want lots of facilities at a mid-luxury price
  • Location: about 45 minutes’ drive from the airport at Port Launay, in north-west Mahé, so budget for the transfer
  • Rates: a breakfast-inclusive junior suite costs about US$630 a night from May to September and US$700 from November to April, before VAT; garden rooms start near US$500
  • Don’t miss: snorkelling straight from the beach in the marine park

Mango House Seychelles: best for a smaller, stylish stay on Mahé

Mango House, part of Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts collection, is a boutique resort on the rocks above Anse aux Poules Bleues at Baie Lazare in south-west Mahé. Rooms range from ocean-view deluxe rooms to one-bedroom houses and larger multi-bedroom houses with their own pools. There are three pools, a small spa and several restaurants and bars, with a relaxed, design-led feel. Recent rates have sat around US$550–US$650 a night before taxes, which makes it one of the more affordable ways to stay somewhere stylish on Mahé.

  • Best for: couples who prefer a smaller, design-led hotel
  • Location: Baie Lazare, south-west Mahé, around 35 minutes from the airport
  • Rates: from around US$550 a night with breakfast, before VAT; high-season prices vary, so check live rates
  • Don’t miss: sunset drinks above the bay, then a short drive to Anse Takamaka or Anse Intendance

Good to know: the sea in front is rocky, so plan on driving to nearby beaches for long swims.

Constance Lémuria: best value on Praslin

What your money buys at Constance Lémuria is a north-west Praslin headland, three beaches (Anse Georgette included) and Seychelles’ sole 18-hole championship golf course. The cheapest way in is a junior suite, which accounts for the bulk of the 105 units; senior suites, pool villas and a presidential villa sit above that. Four restaurants, five bars, a dive centre and a kids’ club give you plenty of choice, and Anse Lazio is a short drive away. For a Praslin stay with famous beaches close by, it typically costs less than a pool villa at Raffles.

  • Best for: golfers, families and beach lovers on a smart-luxury budget
  • Location: Anse Kerlan, north-west Praslin, about 10 minutes from Praslin airport
  • Rates: a junior suite with breakfast costs about US$900 a night in the quieter months and US$1,100 in high season, plus VAT
  • Don’t miss: Anse Georgette in the early morning

Raffles Seychelles: best for a pool villa within the smart-luxury budget

At Raffles, even the entry price gets you a whole villa: there are 86 of them on the slope above Anse Takamaka on north-east Praslin, all with a plunge pool and outdoor pavilion included, and many facing Curieuse. Entry-level hillside villas have been bookable from around US$850 a night with breakfast before VAT, which is low for a private-pool villa at this level. Dining includes the Mediterranean-leaning Losean and seafood at Curieuse, plus private beach dinners. The resort is well placed for boat trips to Curieuse and St Pierre and a day trip to La Digue.

  • Best for: couples after their own pool at well below private-island prices
  • Location: around 20 minutes by car from Praslin airport, at Anse Takamaka on the north-east coast
  • Rates: breakfast-inclusive villas cost from around US$850 a night before VAT, with busier dates higher (check live prices); half board adds about US$170 per person per night
  • Don’t miss: a boat trip to the giant tortoises on Curieuse

Four Seasons Resort Seychelles: best for a high-end Mahé splurge

Four Seasons has 67 villas and suites on the hillside above Petite Anse in south-west Mahé, most with private plunge pools, plus a sheltered beach that is usually good for swimming. Restaurants include the open-air ZEZ and the South-East Asian Kannel, and the hilltop spa has some of the best views on the island. It sits in the high-end band: rates start around US$1,750 a night and reach about US$2,200 from November to April, before service and VAT, so two or three nights here on a Mahé and Praslin trip keeps the total manageable.

  • Best for: couples and families who want top service on Mahé
  • Location: around 30–40 minutes’ drive from the airport, at Petite Anse in south-west Mahé
  • Rates: garden-view villas from around US$1,750 a night (May to September) and US$2,200 (November to April), with breakfast, before service and VAT
  • Don’t miss: sunset from the hilltop spa

Six Senses Zil Pasyon: best for a private island close to Praslin

Six Senses Zil Pasyon has the granite island of Félicité, just east of La Digue, to itself, with 30 pool villas plus larger residences. It is the most accessible private island to combine with Praslin: about 25 minutes by shared speedboat from Praslin, or 20 minutes by helicopter and around an hour by boat from Mahé. Rates start around US$1,050 a night with breakfast before VAT, but helicopter transfers (about €1,121 one way for up to four) are charged per flight and meals add up, so budget carefully. Two or three nights here at the end of a Mahé and Praslin trip moves a week into the high-end band.

  • Best for: a private-island finale without a long flight
  • Transfer: speedboat from Praslin, or boat or helicopter from Mahé
  • Rates: Hideaway pool villas with breakfast cost about US$1,050–US$1,300 a night depending on season, before VAT
  • Don’t miss: snorkelling around Félicité and nearby Coco Island

Four Seasons Resort Desroches Island: best for a remote island with a family-friendly feel

The flat coral island of Desroches lies in the Amirantes, a 35–40-minute flight south-west of Mahé, with about 14 kilometres of beaches. The Four Seasons resort has 76 villas, suites and residences, a dive centre, a spa, a kids’ club and bikes for every guest to explore the island, including a giant tortoise sanctuary. Rates start around US$1,500 a night, usually including half board, and the return flight adds about €633 per adult (more over the festive season), so a week here sits firmly in the private-island band.

  • Best for: families and couples happy to pay for remoteness with full resort facilities
  • Transfer: scheduled light aircraft from Mahé, about 35–40 minutes
  • Rates: half-board villas cost from around US$1,500 a night in low season and US$1,900 in high season, before VAT, plus flights
  • Don’t miss: cycling the island’s coastal track to the tortoise sanctuary

Good to know: the flight has a baggage allowance of around 30kg per person, so check limits before you pack.

North Island: best for an all-inclusive private-island escape

North Island has just 11 villas of around 450 square metres, each with a private pool and direct beach access, on an island where a long conservation programme has restored native forest and turtle nesting beaches. Rates are close to all-inclusive, covering meals, house drinks and many activities, though the short helicopter transfer from Mahé is usually charged separately. Rates start from around US$10,550 a night for two before VAT, so even three nights here costs more than an entire smart-luxury week on Mahé and Praslin.

  • Best for: privacy-focused couples and celebrations where budget is not the constraint
  • Transfer: helicopter from Mahé, around 15–20 minutes, usually charged separately and priced on request (confirm when booking)
  • Rates: from around US$10,550 a night with meals and house drinks; rates vary widely by date, so check live prices
  • Don’t miss: a turtle walk in the nesting season

North Island’s rates include meals and house drinks, but the helicopter from Mahé is usually extra.

How to spend less without losing the luxury

Save the pool villa for slow days. Spend busy sightseeing nights in a junior suite on Mahé, then upgrade for the beach days on Praslin. Limit island changes. Each move adds transfers and a half-day of packing; two islands in a week is plenty. Match the meal plan to the location. Breakfast-only suits Mahé and Praslin, where you can eat out; half board or all-inclusive makes sense on private islands. Travel in the shoulder months. April–May and October–November usually offer calmer seas and better rates than Christmas and Easter, and the best time to visit Seychelles guide sets out what each month is like.

Some savings are false economies. Don’t connect from a private island or Praslin to your long-haul flight on the same day; a final night on Mahé costs less than a missed flight. And don’t fill every day with paid tours: Anse Lazio, Anse Source d’Argent and a hike on Mahé cost little beyond entry fees and a hire car.

Verdict: plan on US$8,000–US$13,000 for seven nights for two, excluding flights, and you can have a properly luxurious week: a pool villa on Praslin, a strong resort on Mahé, good food and the islands’ best beaches. If I were cutting costs, I’d keep the Praslin villa and save on Mahé, where you spend more time out exploring. Go above that range only when a private island or a larger villa is the point of the trip. Couples planning a honeymoon can see where extra spending makes the biggest difference in the Seychelles honeymoon guide, and the Seychelles vs Mauritius comparison shows how the costs stack up against its nearest rival.
