Who we are

Lagoon Edit (lagoonedit.com) is an independent travel guide operated by Sushant (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@lagoonedit.com.

Information we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us, plus a small amount of technical information:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message.
  • Newsletter: your email address, your first name if you give it, and a record of your consent.
  • Form security: when you submit a form, our form software may record technical details such as your IP address and browser type, to help prevent spam and abuse.
  • Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short-term logs of visits, such as IP addresses and pages requested, to keep the site secure and working.

What we do not collect

  • We do not ask you to create an account and never take payment details. Bookings happen on our partners’ own websites.
  • Your Island Finder answers stay in your browser. They are not sent to us or stored.
  • We do not currently use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking tools. If we add any, we will update this policy first.
  • The share buttons on each guide are plain links. Nothing is loaded from social networks unless you click one, and that network’s own privacy policy then applies.
  • When you click a booking link, we count the click against the resort and article so we know which guides are useful. We do not link that count to you.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your message. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam. We rely on our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its visitors.
  • To meet any legal obligations that apply to us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

Cookies

Lagoon Edit uses one small cookie, named islandfolio_newsletter_popup_dismissed_v2, which remembers that you closed or completed the newsletter popup so it does not keep appearing. It lasts 30 days, or one year if you subscribe. It contains no personal information. If you sign in to edit the site, WordPress also sets its own sign-in cookies.

Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading a page does not send your details to font providers. When you follow a link to a booking partner such as Trip.com, that site may set its own cookies to track the referral. Their use of cookies is covered by their own privacy policies.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run Lagoon Edit, such as our website host and, for the newsletter, our email delivery service. They may only use it to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

International transfers

Our service providers may store information in countries other than the one you live in. Where that happens, we use providers that protect personal information to a standard consistent with this policy and with applicable law.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages are kept for up to two years after our last exchange, then deleted.
  • Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
  • Technical details recorded with a form are kept with that submission and deleted with it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, withdraw your consent, and receive a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email contact@lagoonedit.com and we will respond within one month.

Children

Lagoon Edit is written for adults planning travel. It is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the way we handle personal information changes, for example if we add analytics or a new newsletter service. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
